On the 21st April 1918 Sarjent William Scoular of the Royal Welsh Fusilliers was one of 464 officers and other ranks to carry out an attack on Bouzincourt Ridge in Northern France in April 1918.

Only 230 men came back.

William Scoular was my wife's great uncle - he was killed during the attack and is buried in Bouzincourt Ridge Cemetery.

He was only 24 and had already survived many such actions including the first day of the Somme on the 1st July 1916.
