6563S Bombardier P J Cheesley. Royal Field Artillery Date of Death: 23rd August 1916. Age: 23. The headstone is clean and in good condition. Legible, but a little worn. Previously I had contacted the Parish church authorities to be able to cut back an evergreen shrub, which was over hanging and partially obscuring the headstone. They gave me permission to cut the shrub back, which I duly did. Subsequently, the church have authorised others with power tools to further cut back the branches near the grave. Now a much more visible headstone and a lighter, tidier grave exists.
