Frank Philip Dawes was born on the 16th August 1921 and his parents were Brigadier Hugh Frank Dawes DSO MC and Adrienne Jean Dawes (formerly Rathbone).

Captain Dawes served with the Royal Fusiliers, the same Regiment in which his father served, and died in Monte Cassino in Italy on the 10th April 1944.

He is buried in the Cassino War Cemetery and remembered on the war memorial in Rotherwick Church in Hampshire - there is also a memorial plaque on the wall to him. His parents were living at nearby Bartlett's Farm, Mattingley.
