CORPORAL ALFRED JAMES TYLDESLEY Service Number: 130740 Royal Engineers Died 18 August 1921 Age 29 years old B. NC. 518. Husband of Kate Elizabeth Tyldesley, of 35, Salisbury Rd., Armley, Leeds.
Born in Scotforth in 1892, in 1911 Alfred lived in Adelphi street and later Gregson Road and was a plumbers apprentice.
He was a territorial and went to France in 1915 with the Loyal Regiment , later transferring to the RE in April 1916. Alfred was discharged in August 1917 from the special brigade (a unit concerned with Gas warfare) after being wounded.
Alfred married Kate in Chorley in 1917. in 1921 Kate,Alfred and Alfred's Parents lived together in Bolton.
Alfred died of TB and his death was registered in Garstang.
For his service he was awarded the 1915 star trio and a silver war badge.
