Flying Officer J/17899 Marshall Levi Jones (Nav) RCAF was born Limerick, Saskatchewan, the 31st December, 1914, the son of Albert and Eva Jones nee Boyle, and husband of Wilma Jones, nee Williams of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Working for John Eaton and Co, Marshall left the company in 1941 to join the RCAF, enlisting at Regina in February, giving a preference for pilot or observer and was interviewed in March.

Following training, he came to the UK and was posted to 487 (RNZAF) Squadron.

31st Mosquito VI HX951 487 (RNZAF) Squadron, Hunsdon Aircraft took off at 13.10 to attack a “no-ball” site (i.e. V-1 site) at Bois Megle, operation “Ramrod 500”.

The attack was aborted and the Mosquito crashed in unknown circumstances at Priors leas Farm, Poling, Sussex killing:

F/Sgt 1033314 Arthur Settle (Pilot), aged 22, is buried in Horwich (Holy Trinity) Churchyard, the son of Joseph and Nellie Settle of Adlington, and

F/O J/17899 Marshall Levi Jones (Nav) RCAF, aged 28 buried Brookwood Cemetery.
