When researching the family tree I often wondered if Robert Bennett Pitts had been in love with anyone before his death, I wanted him to have been in love and talked to my sister about this often.

Whilst researching his life and death I came accords an article in the local newspaper a year after his death, and there in black and white was a memorial from his sweetheart Bertha, I was overjoyed, it made me feel so happy that he had known love and that Bertha was still remembering him a year after his death.

This article also mentioned his friends which was Bertha’s brother and his wife. I managed to find more information about Bertha, she subs got married and had a son, I often wonder how often she thought about Robert.

I am overjoyed to find this snippet of information about Robert and Bertha and couldn’t wait to tell my sister that he was loved before he died.
