Jesse Walter Hayward was born in 1891 in Lyng near Norwich in Norfolk - his parents were Robert Hayward and Charlotte Brighty. In the 1911 census he is living with his family in Lyng and working as a farm labourer. On the 25th November 1915 he married Violet Mabel Shickle in Holy Trinity Church, Heigham, Norwich.
Jesse Hayward died of pneumonia on the 21st February 1917 in the General Hospital in Newark and is buried in the Cemetery in Norwich.
