Arthur Miles was born in Rotherwick, Hampshire in 1880 - he was baptised in Rotherwick Church on the 27th June 1880. His parents were William Miles and Charlotte Cesar.
In the 1881 and 1891 census returns the family are living in North Common in Rotherwick.
By the time of the 1911 census William is living with two of his children in Rotherwick, he is a widower. Arthur is boarding in Grayshott, Surrey working as a builders labourer and later he enlisted in the Hampshire Regiment in Hazelmere, Surrey.
Arthur was killed in action on the 22nd July 1918 on the Western Front and is remembered on the war memorial in the church in Rotherwick where he was baptised in 1880.
