James was born in Lancaster in 1891 and lived in back George street and at 27 Eastham street, he had 2 brothers, both of whom were killed, and three sisters.

Like many John worked at Williamsons lin works. James died in a Military hospital- Prees heath -whitchurch- Shropshire of TB.
