Ngore William Mangaroa was born on 20 August 1894 in Kakahi, Manawatu-Whanganui, New Zealand.

He was a student before he enlisted in the New Zealand Maori (Pioneer) Battalion. On 14 February 1915, he left Wellington, New Zealand for Suez, Egypt on board the Warrimoo as part of the first Maori contingent.

Deployed to Gallipoli, Ngore was wounded in action on 10 August 1915 and evacuated to Malta, where he sadly died of pleurisy in St. Andrews Hospital on 30 December 1915. Ngore was 21 years old when he died.

He was buried in Pieta Military Cemetery, plot C.IV.2.
