...KIA, France, 28th June 1916.

Reginald Smith was the firstborn child of Albert Smith and Annie (nee Dean) of Whitwell, Derbyshire.

From approximately 1911 to 1914 Reginald lived and worked in Argentina. On his return to England he married Amy Barton and had one child, Margaret May.

In 1915 Reginald joined the 1/7th Bn The King's (Liverpool Regiment) and was deployed to France with the BEF.

On 28th June 1916, he volunteered for a raid on an enemy sap and was killed during that raid. He was 25.

He has no known grave but is commemorated at Arras Memorial, Bay 3 and also at Bootle War Memorial, Merseyside.
