Private 14733697 Ronald David Andrews 7th Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry...

...was born 1926, at Faversham, one of eleven children, the son of Joseph James Andrews (1888 to 1964) and Ethel Mary Andrews - nee Back, (1895 to 1967) of Barton’s Hill, Minster, Isle of Sheppey.

Before joining up, Ronald had been employed at the Canning Town Glass Works, Queenborough, on the Isle of Sheppey and had been in the army for fourteen months when he was killed in action on the 24th of April 1945. He is now buried in Becklingen War Cemetery, Soltau, Germany, but was originally buried in a small cemetery at Achim, Germany.

Notes: 

1) Ronald had two brothers serving in the Royal Navy - Stoker Frederick, and A.B Seaman Alfred. Another brother, Joshua, was invalided from the army having served in the Royal West Kent Regiment. The family had resided on Sheppey for twelve years, having previously lived at Ospringe, near Faversham. 

2) Becklingen War Cemetery contains 4,404 Commonwealth War Graves, of which 2,203 are identified.
