PRIVATE WILFRID WILSON THOMPSON Service Number: S/1590 Seaforth Highlanders-8th Bn. Died 01 February 1916 Age 23 years old H. CE. 66. Son of the late John Wilson Thompson and of Fanny Thompson (stepmother), of 96, St. Mary's Gate, Lancaster.

Born in Westmorland in 1883, Wilfred was educated at Christ Church School and excelled at football and swimming.

He grew up at 29 (1911-25) St Marys Parade Lancaster and Hartingdon street.

A labourer at a joinery works (prob Waring and Gillows) at the outbreak of war, he served 10 months at home and 3 months overseas.

He died of wounds received whilst serving with the 8th Seaforths on 28 September 1915.

He died in King George Hospital London on 1 February 1916.
