William was Private 7619, 1st Battalion, Hampshire Regiment and died on 2nd November 1914 aged 27. He was son of William and Ellen Crumplin of Cricket Green, Hartley Wintney. He has no known grave and is commemorated on Ploegsteert memorial, Belgium and remembered on the War Memorial in Hartley Wintney, Hampshire.
