William Cook was born in Hartley Wintney in 1887 to Frank and Angelina Cook. He married Annie Elizabeth Ellis in Hartley Wintney in 1909 and they had a daughter Annie Sophia in 1910. The family were living at 9, Gas House Cottages in Hartley Wintney. William joined the Hampshire Regiment and died of his wounds in Mesopotamia on the 24th February 1917. He is remembered on the Basra Memorial in Iraq and on the War Memorial in Hartley Wintney, Hampshire.
