Remembering Lance Bombardier Edwin Chadbourne 'Chad'. Sicily 1943.

My late father never forgot the friendship and camaraderie shown to him by L/Bdr Edwin Chadbourne 'Chad' while serving in the 90th City of London Field Regimen, Royal Artillery.
He always remembered him for his kindness, friendship and acting like a father figure to the younger gunners.
On the 18 July 1943 while in action during the Sicily campaign the 25pdr gun that Chad was operating along with my father suffered a 'prem' - a premature explosion of the charge in the breech.
The gun exploded, knocking the crew off their feet, Chad was killed instantly.
Rest in Peace Chad - always remembered.
