Rifleman Charles Bryant

Charles Bryant was born in 1884 in Rushall, Wiltshire - his parents were Joseph and Susan Bryant.

In the 1901 census he was working as a horseman at Church Farm in Hartley Wintney, just down the road from St. Mary's old church, and living with the Herridge family in Church Farm Cottages.

Although he had moved to Croydon to live with his sister by the time of the 1911 census (working as a bricklayer) he enlisted in Hartley Wintney.

Charles died of his wounds on the 20th April 1915 and is buried at Bedford House cemetery in Belgium.
