Ronald was born in August 1920 and his parents lived in Ryelands Road.

After working as a fitter at Lune Mills he joined the Navy in 1939 and was badly wounded twice on the Malta convoys.

He appeared to recover but he died in hospital at Glasgow after being taken ill.
