Laid to rest at the Amsterdam New Eastern Cemetary with other crew members.
Son of John Gray Wood and Sarah Annie Wood of Chevington Drift, Northumberland.

John (also known as Jackie) was my Dad's Cousin.

John and his other crew members took off in the early hours of the 27th of April 1943, in their Handley Page Halifax V (DG423 MP-H) on a mission to Duisberg. The plane took off from Lynton-on-Ouse at 00.51 and at 02.43 on the same day the plane crashed after it was shot down by a night fighter.

John's other crew members were: Pilot Sgt D.G Mcnab ~ Navigator Sgt F.N Slingsby ~ Bomb Aimer F/O N.D Fleming ~ Sgt B.F Keable ~ Air Gunner Sgt C.C Strain and Air Gunner Sgt J Clegg.

We will remember them.
