Edward Ferdinand Green was born on 13 November 1898 to James and Emily Green of Honey Lane, Cholsey, Berkshire.

He joined the Royal Navy as a boy sailor and is listed as a Signal Boy on H.M.S.Europa, which was participating in the Dardanelles Campaign during the First World War at the time of his death.

Edward fell ill and died of dysentery in Malta hospital on 24 August 1915. He is buried in Malta (Capuccini) Naval Cemetery in plot Prot.272.
