In 1939, William Webster was living with his in-laws in Eastleigh, Hampshire. The following people were living at: “Marston” Rufus Close, Eastleigh, Hampshire: Guy S. Humphryes (Retired schoolmaster), b. 6th march 1880; Kathleen A. Humphryes (Unpaid Domestic Duties), b. 29th January 1879; William J. Webster (Merchant Accountant), b. 8th September 1912; Kathleen M. Webster (Humphryes), (Unpaid House Duties), b. 19th September 1912; and Anne C. Webster, b. 2nd September 1939.

Perthshire Advertiser, 17th October 1942

“WAR CASUALTIES “PERTH MAN KILLED IN MIDDLE EAST" 

“Information has been received in Perth that William J. Webster, County of London Yeomanry, son of the late Mr and Mrs William Webster, Goss View, Oakbank Road, Perth, was killed in the Middle East on August 31."

“Twenty-nine years of age, Webster joined up on October 31, 1940, and was drafted to the Middle East ten months ago. Previously he had been chief accountant with Ellerman’s Attacan Rice Co., Ltd., London, whose service he joined after completing his education at Perth Academy."

“His wife and three-year-old baby girl reside at Bargany, 28 Southdene Road, Chandler’s Ford, Hants."

“Until his death about three years ago, Mr Webster, sen., was manager of the hardware department of Perth branch of the S.C.W.S.”
